TIPS ON HOW TO
MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR VISIT
If your plans
on the Islands fall within the busy winter season, it is wise to call
ahead for theatre tickets, boat, dinner and even kayak reservations.
Especially during the winter season, don't miss the J.N. "Ding" Darling
National Wildlife Refuge. Thousands of migratory birds flock to Sanibel.
Hop on a bike and ride the 25 miles of paved bike paths, which meander
through gorgeous neighborhoods, shopping centers and nature preserves.
Just be sure to obey traffic laws, and use hand signals when riding
near the roadway. |
Flocks of birds create photo-ops at Ding Darling.

Be sure
to pore over the beaches for seashells. Visit Blind Pass (between Sanibel
and Captiva) and wade amongst the herons, pelicans, and gulls to find
your seashell treasure. Remember, though, that the seashell population
depletes every time another shell is taken as a souvenir, so leave some
for others!
Get to know the locals. Everyone is friendly, so ask questions and have
the time of your life!
A bike is the perfect island vehicle.
